Emerging Lifestyle Shifts, Online Expression and Tech for Radical Change (Part 1)
Startup societies, village building, the creator revolution and the long term potential of crypto.
Hey everyone,
Got some exiting content to share with you. Some from the synchronistic internet god, some from my friends, and some from yours truly.
I'll explore concepts of startup societies and how the creator economy feeds in, from the digital to the physical. I'll talk about the influences of crypto on politics and how DAOs may drive better business models.
I'll give my current progressions in the coliving project and at the end I’ll share some exiting innovations from Vincent Arena, revealed recently on a CICOLAB call.
I've split this up as before, but next month will be more condensed with mainly resources and content links.
I do feel gratitude for this newsletter as it gives the chance to reflect and bookmark this journey along the way.
I'm committing to making it awesome so if you know anyone who'd dig this please forward this on or drop them a link so they can follow the evolution. Also if you have any newsletters you love please reply with them as I'd love to get some inspiration from how you like to read.
There's so much more community building to come and I'm counting on the curious people like you to gather others that resonate with these movements. You'll see why we need them in the video below.

✦ Environments of Coherence and Dreams
I moved back to London last month into a massive room and noticed a huge shift in my perspective and mindset. It reminded me of the central role our surroundings plays in our mental state and speaks to what drives me to design the ideal environment for creation.
I’ve fallen off the wagon a bit with content creation but I’ve been working on something I think will be quite impactful which I will hopefully share with you all soon.
The last film I released was an important one that overviews my theories for creating cultural evolution in society. It gives the reason I'm compelled to work on this endlessly and why I believe it's a key puzzle piece for the incoming transition.

UK coliving clusters.
Just a quick update on the coliving project.
I was looking at cottages in wales and came back recently from a short visit to experience the remote life and see how viable this could be going forward.
It was actually quite a profound trip and gave me some genuine insights into some of the questions I’ve been exploring recently around bridging the online with the offline world.
Unfortunately won’t be doing any coliving clusters in the UK this summer as priorities need to be shifted elsewhere with more efforts put towards supporting partners, building the community and the media arm of ONCE.
The concept will be continued but with a focus on the curation process in the short term and in the next post I’ll share my experiences of this coliving project and how I think this pandemic may leave lasting effects on our social habits.
House of Transformation
The brainchild Anton Cherkov. An innovative architect with his hands in multiple exiting projects. I first saw his name pop up in The Alternative UK community and was blown away by his concepts such as wild villages or village 3.0.
Looking forward to supporting these endeavours in the future as they really cover new ground.
He's running some events coming up in June/July so check them out if you happen to be around London.
Traditional Dream Factory
I first saw Sam's ideas within the Game B facebook group, where he put forward a proposal for a village in sweden. I recently reconnected through his shared efforts with Anton for the upcoming online festival Re:Build. (using topia, another spatially driven platform similar to gathertown).
He's just bought land in Portugal to build a regenerative village co-owned by it’s members. Linking the local environment with the needs of remote workers bringing their dreams and energy to create there. Plans are forming for shared makerspaces, resources and village currencies.
The Cohere Network
I also connected with this team via the Game B community and my previous coliving film. They're launching a community-owned coliving network allowing you to invest in property without tying you to one location. Bringing together sustainable approaches to construction while layering a blockchain token over the property assets to allow for easy property investment while being tied to the value of the spaces.
They are currently living the lifestyle they aim to create in Guatemala and I'm exploring ways to combine media with them to show how this feeds into a larger narrative. Will likely go into more details of this project in the future.
The Future Thinkers
After amassing a large following through their podcast series the founders are now developing a smart village project which is super impressive in both it's design and approach.
With the lean towards media this vision is probably the closest i've seen to my own and I fully intend to support them as much as possible in this.
They're getting very close to their funding target for purchasing the land in British Columbia, Canada and they’ve even got NFTs to help with the raise.
If you're interested to invest or get involved in any way I'd recommend signing up to their online community. (drop me a 👋🏻 in there if you do).
▲ The Creators Revolution
As you'll know from my video above I see a huge potential in combining the movements of the creator economy into the purpose economy.
There's been a huge wave of innovation in providing business models and tools for creators recently. Substack recently raised $65m (strategy breakdown tweet linked) and Patreon raised $155million.
What I'm particularly interested in is seeing how this merges with web3.0 as there's huge potential in decentralised finance helping to mitigate up front risk for those with talent, and longer term could significantly legacy education.
Here's a few notable projects I've come across (in no particularly order):
Roll - creator focused and early mover.
Human IPO - shamelessly going to link you to my profile there :P
Mirror - writing leaderboards and accountability
Bitclout - slightly controversial platform allowing you to trade coins attached to creators (who don’t need to have signed up themselves)
If you're looking to learn more about the creator economy and what's in store I'd definitely recommend checking out this article by Jonathan Hillis which presents how self expression combined with these new tools may allow for more synchronised networks of people.
Jon has set up Creator Cabins outside of Austin and recently just crowdfunded Cabin Residencies via mirror. A blockchain publishing platform that comes with a suite of tools to use crypto in innovative ways (once you can get onto it).
I'm going to explore decentralised cities in the next newsletter but I want to end this part by sharing a fantastic talk by Untitled with Geoff Mulgan about the important history and potential of imagination in shaping our world.
Keep your eyes peeled for part 2. ⚫️ ◼️ ⩚
